Sao Domingos, Peniche 2007/11/13 19:28
Been fishing now a couple of times on my local water "Sao Domingos". I have found that to catch the big fish is not unlike some English waters i have fished. On several occassions now i have gone down to the Barragem with my fishfinder and found the 'big' stuff to just be laying on the bottom. Lots of 2 & 3kilo fish midwater and surface. To hammer these and get them feeding on the bottom is simple. Use a good method feeder mix and put it in the same spot every time, this rule applies for 'pole' or 'float' fishing too. I constantly get 50kilo plus in a session on the pole using this method.

To get the big stuff is a totally different ball game!
My first sessions out here for the big stuff i applied my English method, look for a shallow flat spot close in and feed an initial amount of pellet then little & often through out your session. After applying this method on a few occassions, i have found on this water, more often than not they are all close in. All my 5,6,7,8 & 9kilo fish have come to this method of fishing.

If anyone else has any methods or different ideas, without sharing their locations , as i know the Carp business out here is very 'cloak & dagger', please feel free to leave them here. As i beleive in sharing this kind of information will benefit all Carp anglers alike to catching more serious fish!

Will be out on the 'Sao Domingos' fishing this Thursday & Friday to try out my new baits with different methods of fishing.

My new blog page will be here soon so please visit and hear how & what i catch on my sessions out..

Had another good two day 5hr sessions on the Sao Domingos.
Decided to fish method feeder to try out my method mix & my new betain hnv hookable pellets as bait....A carp a cast & every cast. Again found i had to find a level spot for them to feed a bit more confidently, and put it in the same spot every time... But once they was there they was there to stay.
Smallest fish was about 2kilo and biggest 4kilo.

Fished about 30mtrs out and was getting about 10/12mtrs deep. Got to watch the near drop off though, as it's very rocky close in, lost a couple of rigs on it.
Used a simple method feeder with size 18's elastic doubled up & ruuning through with a 4" tail onto a size 8....perfect!

I find it quite ammusing to have people watching me and then look in wonderment as i put the fish back
